FOTD

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: YDK on the lid, Busted in the crease, Bootycall  as a highlight
L'Oreal Mascara Voluminous Million Lashes in Black Brown

Please ignore my hair in this pic, I am growing it out and its in that awful in between stage where you just want to shave your head! I used my Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda concealer, Mary Kay translucent powder, E.L.F. Blush in Mellow Mauve, Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout, and Smashbox Lipgloss in Limitless.

Face of the Day (FOTD)

I have decided to start doing a FOTD or Face of the Day to try to start blogging daily and also to catalogue (for myself and others) the fact that I DO wear makeup each and every day even though some people think that I do not *grumbles menacingly*. We'll show them, my lovelies!! *cackles*
Today was an I-got-home-from-my-mom's-and-decided-I-am-not-going-anywhere-else-so-let's-play-with-my-new-Naked-2-palette kind of day. I used the color Pistol ( a pretty greyish brown) on top of my Tough as Taupe Maybelline 24 Color Tattoo eyeshadow, a bit of Blackout (matte black) in the crease, Bootycall as a highlight, Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara, and Urban Decay's 24/7 Eyeliner in Perversion.  I love the names that Urban Decay assigns their products, dont you? I will be doing a full review of the Naked 2 Palette as soon as I have had time to use all the colors and decide how I like them.
To be honest, I was not sure how I would like this look but it has definitely grown on me as the day has progressed. Also, I understand this is not a true FOTD but I had no actual face makeup on so all you get is the eyeballs!! We have a 100% chance of seeing actual face tomorrow since it's a workday lol. Actually the next 9 days will be workdays *grrrrr* but there is nothing to be done about that.

L'Oreal Infallible Lipgloss

L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipgloss, Undeniable Mauve 515

This post is for Rachel, who wanted some type of lip post since I have only done eyeshadow posts so far. One of my favorite lipglosses is L'Oreal Infallible lipgloss in 515 Undeniable Mauve. I actually bought it because of a video from Fafinettex3 on youtube ( she is wearing the lipgloss in this video http://www.youtube.com/user/fafinettex3#p/search/2/MHqW7Z0JDKI) It is an amazing lipgloss. I love it because its glossy but its also pigmented, you can wear it by itself or over a lipstick. It is long-wearing and not sticky like so many lipglosses are. L'Oreal's selling statement on this lipgloss type is that it is "Never Failing for 6 hours". This is a stretch but I will say that it is good for about 3 hours and that is through eating, drinking and talking on the phone (which I do 8 hours a day for work *groans*). Personally, I don't mind having to reapply it because the applicator (see below) is shaped to make it extremely easy to apply. I really need to pick this lipgloss up in other colors but I am so stuck on this one color that I probably will not even need another till I finish this tube. There is plenty of product in the package and I use this all the time, it is one of the products that I keep in my purse.

Makeup Addiction: A Dark Story of a Pook's Lust for Color

I cannot believe how long it has been since I have done a blog!! Shame on me! In my defense, work has been super crazy and its tough to come home and type on the laptop when that is all you've done all day at work. excuses, excuses! Anyway I have quite a few new palettes and items coming to me in the mail in the next week so I will definitely have my work cut out for me.
I purchased the Naked 2 Palette from urbandecay.com. I just have to say that the original Naked Palette changed my entire view of neutral eyeshadows. Neutral = Boring is what I used to think.... NO MORE! Neutrals are fabulous, sexy, smoky, classic, elegant, gorgeous! All thanks to the Naked Palette from Urban Decay which I probably never would have gotten if my BFF Carla had not purchased it and showed it off to me.lol Thanks Carla! Here is a link to urbandecay.com, there is a pic of the Naked 2 Palette on the first page of the website. http://www.urbandecay.com/ . The palette came out in December 2011, I believe, but has been sold out for about a month. Urban Decay just got the item back in stock yesterday so if you want it I suggest you get it NOW as in RIGHT NOW... do not pass go, do not collect $200 ...until you have this palette! Not to mention I also had to pick up Perversion which is Urban Decay's newest eyeliner (matte black). Urban Decay's eyeliners are the best I have come across, creamy, long-wearing, amazing. They are pricy but very much worth it. I also picked up a 5 pack of the 24/7 Shadow Pencils (I own 3 already!) and I really cannot wait for the order to come in *droools* Here comes Painted Pook!
I have also, for the last week, been obsessing over a new palette from Makeup Forever called La Boheme (http://www.makeupforever.com/) I am a complete sucker for all thinks gypsy and boho and this palette is the epitome of those things. Never having owned a Makeup Forever product I fell head-over-heels in love with this palette and have been sitting by my laptop breathlessly awaiting its release date (TODAY!!!) I purchased it from Sephora today and cannot wait until it comes in!!
Of course as soon as I try out both palettes I will be posting the reviews. I am very excited and can't wait to get them. I'm certain I shall be stalking my mailperson for the next week LOL.

88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette Look

Now for something completely different! Sitting at home hanging out and decided to play with my makeup some since I don't plan on leaving the house again today. This is what I came up with using my Coastal Scents Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette.
Colors used from the 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette,  Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara

Coastal Scents Ultra Shimmer Palette
I used colors from the middle row (2nd from the bottom in the crease, 4th from the bottom all over the lid, and very top color for highlight and inner corner of eye). This palette is great for whenever you need a pop of color. It is only available online at Coastal Scents. The amount of shadows and the color quality is the best available for the price($22.95). Many of the shadows in this palette are dupes for high-end brands.I truly think this palette is a must-have for any makeup lover.

Pook's Top 2 Mascaras

So I was really trying to turn this post into a "Pook's Top Holy Grail Mascara!" but I just couldn't pick between these 2 mascaras because I honestly love them both and wear them all the time. I am going to start off with the one I bought first which is (let me just say that this is not a Maybelline only blog!lol I promise to blog about other brands I promise you) Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies Flared (retails for $7.49). I absolutely love this mascara! First off I need to say that it is very tough to judge a mascara until you have opened it and been using it for about 2 weeks or so. I actually read about this on nouveaucheap's blog and she is absolutely right, something about having the formula exposed to air ages it and just makes it better. Having said that, Falsies Flared ages wonderfully and is just perfect after about a week.

One of the things I love the most about this mascara is that it gives you amazing volume without glooping (is that even a word?) product everywhere and making a huge mess. Who wants to spend time getting their eyeshadow perfect only to put on their mascara and ruin everything? Not I! Also, Falsies Flared is extremely buildable, it looks great whether you use one coat or 4 coats, whether you're going for a my-eyelashes-only-better look or a omg-are-those-real?!? look.

My second favorite mascara is Urban Decay's Supercurl Curling Mascara ($20 for full-size tube on urbandecay.com). I got a travel-size tube with the Book of Shadows IV I bought from urbandecay.com on Black Friday. Do you believe in love at first sight? I put this mascara on and it was like fireworks, stars, and glitter exploded all over my face! wait, that sounds painful.... anyway, you get the idea! It was magical. I don't have to even curl my eyelashes when I put it on. Not only does it curl your eyelashes for you but your eyelashes will stay curled ALL DAY. This mascara is also super buildable.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow

I have been very excited to try out the new Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows, especially after hearing them compared to Mac Paint Pots and Makeup Forever Aqua Creams! I went to CVS today with my husband and lo and behold there was a HUGE display of the Color Tattoo eyeshadows and it was almost 90% full as well! To my disappointment, however, 2 of the colors I really wanted to try (Tough as Taupe and Punk Pomegranate) were nowhere to be found :( . After staring at the display for awhile I finally grabbed the color Bad to the Bronze, a pretty metallic bronze. Some of the other colors in this collection are very bright and bold (I just couldnt see myself wearing Tenacious Teal or Fierce and Tangy to the office *shudders*). Still I was very excited to try out this new product that I had heard so much about.

Something to mention here is that I have VERY oily eyelids. Eyeshadow does not last on me unless I use a primer (I like NYX HD Shadow Base and Urban Decay Primer Potion.), it creases, smudges, and pretty much dissolves off my eyes which you can imagine is not very pretty and makes for some odd looks from co-workers. I decided to try this eyeshadow without a primer or base first to really test its staying power.

First applied, no primer or base
The shadow goes on like a smooth, silky dream. I used my finger and gently patted the shadow on, slightly blending the edges. As you can see from the picture the shadow is very shimmery. Normally I would be worrying about serious glitter fallout right about now but thats the fun part of the eyeshadow being a cream, no fallout for us! Shimmer stays on the lid, not everwhere else.
I was also surprised that for such a neutral color the pigmentation is pretty nice. It almost reminds me of some of the colors in the Urban Decay Naked Palette which may just be my favorite palette EVER.

7 hours later
To be honest, I am pretty darn impressed. After 7 hours, no primer, my oily eyelids, not to mention this is a drugstore eyeshadow and its still on my eyelids with the same pretty color payoff as when I first put it on. For a whopping $6.49 I'm already dreaming of finding my Tough as Taupe and Punk Pomegranate.

Introduction of Pook

Hello and welcome. My name is Lauren Fitch a.k.a. Pook, PookStar, LaLa, Twin, Sparkz and several other random nicknames I have accumulated over the last 25 years. I would like to begin by saying I am starting this blog because I am tired of the weird blank looks my friends and family give me when I start talking about makeup. You know the one... eyes glaze over, mouth hangs slightly open, a bit of drool collects at the corner of the lips. Exactly! It's difficult to share my love and enthusiasm with these people! So I said to myself , "Self, we have to do something about this. Our adoration for makeup must be shown and celebrated in some creative way!", hence this blog. I figure it will mostly be a makeup diary for me, however, if I can help someone by buying makeup (which I will do anyway), snapping some pics, and writing a review, then I am happy to do so. I am not a makeup artist and certainly do not claim to be, I simply love makeup and would like to share my purchases and comments with others. I am completely open to comments, brownies, questions, pizza, feedback, Starbucks, followers, etc. so please feel free to share with me your thoughts and such. :) I am actually working on my first review now (it's for Maybelline 24 hour Color Tattoo eyeshadow), hopefully I will have it up in the next couple of days.
